Find Gray County Released Inmates

Gray County released inmates may leave one custody system while a court case, transfer, or supervision continues elsewhere. A search for Gray County released inmates therefore starts with the facility that last held the person and the record that documents what happened next. County jail records, state correctional information, court orders, and parole or probation records answer different questions. To look up a released Gray County inmate accurately, separate a true community release from a transfer and distinguish a projected date from a completed discharge. Gray County released inmates are best verified with two matching official sources.

Understanding Gray County Releases

“Released” means that one named custodian stopped holding a person. It does not always mean the person went home. Gray County Jail may book out someone on bond, after time served, following dismissal, or under a court order. It may also transfer that person to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. The book-out record should identify the event and destination. A transfer ends the Gray County custody episode but continues confinement elsewhere.

Rufe Jordan Unit and Baten Intermediate Sanction Facility are state facilities located in Gray County, not branches of the county jail. Jordan departures can involve parole, mandatory supervision, direct discharge, or another TDCJ transfer. Leaving Baten may return a person to supervision or move him to another placement. The correct record owner is set by the facility, not by the county shown in its mailing address.

Time served
A court credits or completes the local jail term.
Parole
Conditional release from prison after a Board decision, followed by supervision.
Mandatory supervision
A statutory form of supervised release that still depends on eligibility and, for many cases, Board approval.
Direct discharge
Completion of the state sentence without supervision on that sentence.

Gray County Release Types

The release notation controls the next check. Gray County has not published its exact jail database codes, so the terms below describe fields worth requesting rather than a claimed local codebook. Match the jail entry with the relevant order or receiving-system record.

Release typeWhat it meansNext official source
Cash, surety, or personal bondJail custody ends while the case usually remains open.Book-out entry, bond order, and court docket
Time served or sentence completeA local custodial term was credited or completed.Judgment, jail-time credit, and release entry
Dismissal, acquittal, or court orderThe named charge no longer supports that custody episode, subject to other holds.Signed court instrument and final book-out
TransferGray County custody ended, but another agency took custody.Destination field and receiving-system locator
Parole or mandatory supervisionState confinement ended while TDCJ supervision follows.TDCJ release status and Amarillo DPO
Direct dischargeThe state sentence ended without supervision on that sentence.TDCJ discharge confirmation

A cleared hold is not always a final release. Other charges, warrants, or custodians may remain. Likewise, disappearance from a search result is not a release type. Ask for the precise disposition, final time out, releasing authority, and destination.

Gray County Release Record Fields

A strong county record connects the arrest and booking episode to the book-out event. The Sheriff's Office is the first custodian to ask for operational jail data. A court clerk can explain the legal cause, but the court file may not show the exact time staff completed the physical release. Request existing records and original field names, not a new narrative.

Field to requestWhat it establishes
Name, aliases, date of birthWhich person the episode concerns and how to avoid a same-name mismatch
Booking number and book-in timeThe specific jail episode and its start
Charges, bonds, and cause numbersThe legal entries linked to that booking
Book-out date and timeWhen Gray County custody physically ended
Release type and authorityBond, court action, completion, hold release, transfer, or another basis
Destination or receiving agencyWhether the person entered another custody system
Booking photographThe image tied to that booking, if public and retained

The sheriff publishes no online retention period. There is no sound basis for claiming a released name stays visible for one day, three days, or any other set period. A historic written request remains the reliable route. Court dockets may persist longer, yet they answer a different question: why release was ordered, not when the jail door-out process finished.

Request Gray County Release Records

Texas Public Information Act requests should go to the body that holds the record. For jail book-in and book-out data, begin with the Gray County Sheriff's Office. Its official page does not state a records email, public counter hours, local fee schedule, or photo policy. Call before hand delivery, or mail a focused written request.

  1. Identify the person with full name, aliases, date of birth, and a booking number when known. Give the approximate custody dates.
  2. Ask for the existing booking sheet, book-in and book-out timestamps, release type, releasing authority, transfer destination, charges, bonds, and booking photo.
  3. Request electronic copies. Ask for an itemized estimate before charges pass a stated ceiling. Do not demand a newly created list or answers to questions.
  4. Compare the response with the court cause. Use the District Clerk for felony matters and the County Clerk for the county-court layer.
  5. If the entry says transfer, continue with the named receiving agency. Do not report a community release without support.

The Act permits authorized reproduction costs. Under Government Code Chapter 552, an estimate above $40 must be itemized. The familiar ten-business-day rule generally concerns an agency's request for an Attorney General withholding decision; it is not a promise that records will arrive within ten days.

Texas Rules for Gray Releases

Chapter 552 applies to existing information held by Texas and local government bodies. It does not require an office to conduct research, answer legal questions, or build a custom 24-hour report. Exceptions may cover active law-enforcement material, confidential personal information, juvenile matters, and records sealed or expunged by law. Court-clerk copy charges can follow separate clerk rules.

Expunction is now organized in Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. Eligibility depends on the facts and statutory route; dismissal alone does not guarantee it. A final order restricts release and use of expunged records. Article 55A.451 also requires the person responsible for releasing or discharging an arrested person to provide written information about Chapter 55A rights. An old copy should never replace the current official state of the record.

Record boundary: a court order can explain the legal outcome, while the jail release record supplies the physical book-out event. Use both when exact custody history matters.

Find a Released Gray County Inmate

Start with the last confirmed custodian. Gray County Jail, Jordan, Baten, BOP, and ICE keep separate records. Write down the last known date and any booking, SID, TDCJ, or federal number. Then follow the track supported by the facts.

  1. Call Gray County Jail at 806-669-8022 for immediate direction. If the person is no longer held, ask for the book-out date, disposition, and any receiving agency.
  2. Check Texas IVSS-Counties as a supplement. Gray County participation is not conclusively verified, and a former inmate may disappear.
  3. Request the written sheriff release record. This supplies stronger historic evidence than a phone answer or missing search result.
  4. Locate the court cause through the proper Gray County clerk. Obtain the judgment, dismissal, bond order, or other underlying instrument.
  5. If the destination is TDCJ, use the current state locator, then TDCJ email or telephone channels for historic or release information.
  6. Use the BOP or ICE locator only when a federal or immigration transfer is factually indicated.
Why the roster fails: a live custody list is designed to show people held now. A released person normally leaves it, so absence cannot supply the date, reason, or destination.

The 24-hour release list and 72-hour release list explain how to make a date-bounded request when no official feed exists. A future TDCJ date belongs in the separate projected release date process until the event is confirmed.

No Gray County Release Feed

The official Gray County Sheriff page publishes no current roster, booking list, 24-hour view, 72-hour view, release archive, photo gallery, or authenticated mobile app. It provides the jail contact and a custody-status link. No web fields, update cadence, or retention period can be inferred from a feed that is not present.

Official Gray County Sheriff contact for released inmate records

The absence redirects the search to a jail phone check, a written booking and release request, and the court file. Commercial directories may be stale or incomplete and do not certify release. For a date range, ask whether an existing release log is maintained, or request the individual existing entries. The Act does not force the sheriff to create a new report.

Getting Home After Gray Release

Panhandle Community Services is federally profiled as the regional rural transit provider. Neither that profile nor the regional transit plan promises a pickup at Gray County Jail. A ride should be arranged with the provider before release. Family should ask jail staff where waiting is allowed rather than assume which entrance is used.

The exact release door, time, property process, and transport practice were not published. Those gaps matter. A projected time can move while staff clear identity, holds, orders, and property. Treat any planned pickup as flexible until the jail confirms the process.

Search Gray Release Court Records

The Gray County Clerk public index compares its index to a library-card catalog and advises trying spelling variations. That makes it a locator, not certified proof of disposition. Search aliases and date ranges where lawful, capture the cause number, and obtain the judgment, dismissal, bond order, or docket instrument underneath the index entry.

Gray County court index used to verify released inmate disposition

Felony and district matters begin with the Gray County District Clerk. County-level matters go through the County Clerk, while justice and municipal cases remain with their court. A signed disposition can explain why custody ended. The jail's book-out record is still needed for the exact release time.

Verify Gray Post-Release Supervision

Texas separates the Board decision from field supervision. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles votes parole matters. TDCJ Parole Division supervises parole and mandatory supervision. Gray County is assigned to the Amarillo District Parole Office, Region V. Probation, also called community supervision, begins with the sentencing court and the relevant Community Supervision and Corrections Department instead.

Do not infer absconder status or discharge from a missing directory result. Ask the proper office using enough identifiers to avoid a mistaken match. The Gray County parole and probation page separates the Amarillo Board office from the District Parole Office and explains the state review path.

Gray County Release Reentry Contacts

The TDCJ reentry resource guide lists a small Gray County directory: the DPS office at 2909 Perryton Parkway for identification, Good Samaritan Christian Service at 309 N. Ward, and Pampa HHSC at 1509 N. Banks. These listings help with navigation but do not promise eligibility, benefits, hours, transportation, or same-day service.

Jordan's official unit directory also lists CHANGES and pre-release programming. Program participation does not prove a person's release status. Confirm the correctional event separately through TDCJ, then contact each service before travel.

Gray Release Alerts and Transfers

Texas retired county VINE and moved to Texas IVSS-Counties. The system can search by name or identifiers and may send booking, release, court, death, escape, or TDCJ-transfer notices from participating sources. It warns that a former inmate may not appear, and Gray County participation remains unconfirmed. Preserve an alert, then obtain the jail record. State-prison and parole notifications use the separate TDCJ IVSS portal.

For a federal transfer, use the BOP Inmate Locator. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” proves departure from BOP only; federal supervision, ICE, state, or county custody may follow. The ICE Online Detainee Locator is a separate route when a record specifically indicates immigration custody. A missing result in either system is not release proof.

Where Gray Release Records Appear

Each system proves a narrow part of the custody chain. Pair the record of physical departure with the order, status, or supervision record that explains what followed.

Gray County Release Facilities

Three verified facilities require three different release paths. No official source supports adding a separate Pampa municipal jail, federal prison, or ICE detention facility in Gray County.

  • Gray County Jail handles local bookings. Confirm community release or transfer through its book-out record and the court cause.
  • Rufe Jordan Unit is a TDCJ prison. Use TDCJ for parole, mandatory supervision, direct discharge, or transfer.
  • Baten Intermediate Sanction Facility is a TDCJ intermediate-sanction placement. Departure may return a person to supervision or move him elsewhere.

The present Gray County Jail should not be confused with the jail once housed in the courthouse. The Texas Historical Commission nomination says completion of a county jail in 1992 allowed conversion of the old fourth-floor jail space. That history does not change which current office owns a release record.
